1st of may – castle day – DP7COTA QRV from DL-02335, DL-02336, DL-02337

This year beside the usual middle-german-castle-day we planned also to make a complete german castle day. Finally a lot of interested stations took part. The biggest activity like in the years before however also this year came from district Thüringen with a high number of participating stations. At first I planned together with my xyl to activate only the castle of Neuhaus DL-02336 but then later we decided to make another afternoon activity which brought us to the castle of Wildenau DL-02337. Both first activations and a high number of stations could be worked according to the activation-time. Finally in the evening as roundup a short activity from my home-castle Falkenberg DL-02335 followed. Altogether 378 stations made it into the logs. Thanks for calling in. DP7COTA-activation DL-02815

On april, 28 I started with my xyl for the next activation. Destination was the palace of Theuern located in nature-park Hirschwald DLFF-067. Activty lasted a bit less than two hours. It was no longer possible cause propagations nearly faded out and the temperature claimed the 30 degree mark. Finally we finished with a total score of 220 contacts. Glad to hand out a new WCA and/or a new WFF-counter. QSL as usual via DL7RAG

DP7COTA-activation DL-02341

The third castle-activation on the easter-weekend was the most successful one. In 2 hours 15 minutes altogether 279 stations could be worked from DL-02341 and beside presenting a new castle-counter DL-02341 could hand out also DLFF-093 for WFF and DOK COTA for the german DLD-award. DP7COTA-activation of DL-02340

Just was planning two activities this day but when I´ve set up the station at location number one with an environment-temperature of 5 degrees, my XYL and me decided to extend this first stay a bit and cancel the second activation. After warming up in the car a bit in 110 minutes I could work 206 stations which was an absolutely satisfying result. A small report about the activation can be found here as PDF.

A not so successful day to bring a new castle on the air was april, 06. Strong distortions, a not well working antenna and technical problems with the rest of the rig brought me to the give-up after one hour. So unfortunately only 18 contacts were made. OE/DJ5RE again QRV from OEFF-152

After his last years activities from various WFFs in austria this year again Thomas was shortly active from OEFF-152.
This time with extreme QRP-equipment he was able to manage 92 QSOs in an hour. Congrats Thomas.

DP7COTA Activation of DL-02828

An attempt to start in the new season was quite successful. The place selected was the town Wernberg with its castle DL-02828 BOB-037 in the nature-park DLFF-098. Equipped with FT450, separate car-battery and double-dipole on a fiberglass-mast 105 minutes of operation-time resulted in 227 contacts. Logs where uploaded to WCA and WFF. Activation of DL-02826 and DL-02827 a great success

The invitation from Karl DL4RU and Inge DL9RBI to their town for a double castle activation ended very successfully.
The idea to bring two new castle entries in the HBD-weekend (3 year anniversary of WCA) on january 14th resulted in a great score of 455 QSOs in less than four hours. Beside the WCA-counters DL-02826 and DL-02827 also the WFF-park-counter DLFF-093 was given and the pileups sometimes were tremendous.

DA0CW/p – Double-Activation of two new castles DL-02826 and DL-02827

At saturday, january 14, DA0CW/p will be QRV from the town of Neustadt
putting out two new castles with one contact with the old and the new palace of Neustadt.
This will be an activity celebrating the HBD-weekend, the three year anniversary of the WCA-award-program.

Beside the two new castles this contact is also valid for nature-park DLFF-093
Naturepark Nördlicher Oberpfälzer Wald.

DA0CW/p – Activation Castle of Falkenberg DL-02335

As my final 18th operation this year under DA0CW and OK8WFF I´ve decided to use the silent days just before the new year to put DA0CW/p in the air from my home-castle Falkenberg, just directly in my view when looking out of the window.
About seven hours with tests on various bands generated altogether 339 contacts in my log.
This put the 2011 Falkenberg QSO-score up to 2300 contacts at all, our most activated castle, hi.
The eight other new castle-portable-operations altogether finished with 1564 contacts. So Team DA0CW/OK8WFF made in 2011 more than 3900 castle-contacts, together with nearly 7000 WFF-contacts an increadible result, thanks to all callers.

New year season is planned to start at january 14 with another new one castle operation celebrating the three years anniversary of WCA on Happy Birthday Castle-day.
